FSR402 14.7mm (0.5 Inch) Round Force Sensing Resistor Pressure Sensor
The FSR402 14.7mm (0.5 Inch) Round Force Sensing Resistor (FSR) is a robust, polymer thick film (PTF) sensor that dynamically decreases its electrical resistance as the force applied to its active circular sensing area increases. Capable of detecting applied force ranging from 0.1N up to 20N (approx. 10g to 2kg), this ultra-thin, flexible force sensor is optimized for human-touch control and pressure detection. Featuring a simple two-pin interface with 2.54mm pitch, it easily integrates into voltage divider circuits for microcontrollers like Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi. It is widely used in electronic music instruments, medical devices, robotic grippers, smart touch interfaces, and interactive wearables.

Add FAQ
The FSR402 14.7mm (0.5 Inch) Round Force Sensing Resistor is an ultra-thin, flexible piezoresistive polymer sensor designed to detect physical pressure, touch, and force. As mechanical force is applied to the active 14.7mm circular sensing area, the internal electrical resistance of the sensor drops dramatically—moving from greater than 1MΩ at rest (unpressed) down to roughly 1kΩ or lower under heavy force.
With a wide force detection sensitivity range spanning from 10g to 10kg (0.1N to 100N), the FSR402 acts as a force-sensitive variable resistor. Its non-obtrusive, paper-thin footprint makes it easy to integrate behind soft pads, robot grippers, musical instruments, and human-machine interfaces. Electroboat Technologies provides authentic, highly durable force sensors ready for your embedded and prototyping projects.

How to Use
-
Circuit Wiring: Connect one terminal of the FSR402 to your supply voltage (
5Vor3.3V). -
Voltage Divider: Connect the second terminal to an analog input pin on your microcontroller (e.g.,
A0on Arduino). Place a 10kΩ pull-down resistor between this analog pin and Ground (GND). -
Reading Data: In your code, read the analog voltage using
analogRead(). As pressure increases, the voltage across the 10kΩ resistor rises proportionally. -
Mounting Precaution: Apply pressure directly to the center of the circular active area. Avoid soldering heat directly to the flex tail pins—use breadboard wires or crimp connectors.
